Richard Proenneke Museum is located inside the Donnellson Public Library.

Richard was born in Lee County, Iowa he was an American self-educated naturalist who lived alone for nearly thirty years in the mountains of Alaska in a log cabin that he constructed by hand near the shore if Twin Lakes. Proenneke hunted, fished, raised and gathered his own food, and also had supplies flown in occasionally.
